Cross Channel Row-a-thon

Saturday 15th June

On the 15th of June 2013 the whole of the Wickes estate came together in an Oar-Some fund raising event.. Each store jumped on a rowing machine and between the team (and volunteers) rowed the equivalent distance of Dover to Calais... and back! All to raise money for Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research.

In every store on Saturday 15th, colleagues took turns on a rowing machine with the aim of completing 84,740 metres  - the distance across The Channel from Dover to Calais and back. We are now awaiting confirmation if this Oar-Some event did indeed get us into the Guinness Book of World Records.

Here in the North West we raised £4,149 on the day and we are still taking donations both in store and via our existing Justgiving website

Thank you on behalf of Wickes and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research to all the Gyms and associations who have kindly loaned us rowing machines for the event.
